Gather at the Tomball Farmers Market March 22nd. Spring is very much here and our farmers have a lot to offer this weekend and the weather this Saturday makes it perfect for a day out.

We even have Tomball Farmers Market bags to carry all your goodies home in at the Information Booth. While there grab information about local events and businesses curtesy of the City of Tomball and The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce. Following your farmers market visit, explore the historic charm of Old Town Tomball, where unique boutiques, an artist market and local restaurants await.

The City of Tomball is bringing back a really popular event this weekend!  The Choo Choo Chow Down will be in full swing from 11 am to 5 pm at the Tomball Depot which is right behind our farmers market.  They will have amazing food trucks, a kids area and live music. So bring your coolers and explore everything Old Town Tomball has to offer.  We truly are a hidden gem.

OUR FARMERS AND COTTAGE FOOD PRODUCERS NEED YOUR HELP:
It's the 2025 Legislative Session: We will be going to Austin to advocate for several bills April 1st.

Cottage Food Bills:
HB2588 and SB541(are similar in scope) https://www.instagram.com/p/DHZZehEuJts/?igsh=amU5bzg3dmlpY2E5
  • Would increase the sales limit helping cottage food producers grow.
  • Would allow wholesale and indirect sales, provided that certain requirements are met.
  • Would allow refrigerated baked goods (e.g. cheesecakes), as long as the producer adheres to certain requirements.
  • Would require producers who sell perishable foods to register with the health department and follow extra labeling requirements.
  • Would allow producers to exclude their home address on labels, as long as they adhere to certain requirements.
  • Would change and add some labeling requirements.
HB 294
  • Would prevent homeowners’ associations from prohibiting cottage food operations.
FARM Bills:
  • HB1669
    • Create more flexibility for direct-to-consumer sales of raw milk
    • Makes life easier for raw milk sales for farmers and TFM.
  • HB2930 and SB2168
    • Establish fair property tax policies for small farmers: Address the inequities that burden small farms and prevent them from qualifying for agricultural valuation
      • This is the one we will be fighting for the hardest.  As it deeply affects small acreage farm vendors like Verdegreens and Mushroom Factory who produce a lot of food under 5 acres.
      • If it doesn’t pass it hurts our small farmers and risks them being put out of business. Which hurts everyone.
  • HB2953 and SB1864
    • Support egg sales: Remove the unnecessary grading permit for small farmers and allow them to sell their eggs to local restaurants and local retailers.
      • Grading does not change the nutritional value.  It's no different than say "pretty veggies" verses veggies not considered pretty.
