How it all started...

In 2008, two young mothers read a book called "Profits From Your Backyard Herb Garden."  This book ignited them into thinking of other ways to grow and produce food that would not only feed their families better, but could feed their communities and promote the local & organic food movement.

Driving to the existing farmers markets in downtown Houtson with their kids in tow was not an option.  And since both of them had lived in Tomball for many years, and given the agrarian areas that still exist in Tomball, they wondered if anyone else in Tomball would be interested in a having a farmers market in their hometown.

So they spoke to the city council who, after giving the market their blessing, stated the city had no funding or manpower to help the market.  The moms then advertised an informational grass roots meeting to see how the community would feel  about having a market.  That first meeting at Tomball Bible Church brought us three more of our current board members.

Dr. Rodney Hutson has graciously agreed to allow us the use of his lot on the corner of Cherry St. & Main St. (FM 2920), across from TEAM.

June 2008 was the market's first debut.  With our first ten vendors, and a successful tomato season to boot, by August the market went from being open only on the 2nd Saturday of the month to the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month.  After taking a poll of what our customers really wanted most (fresh produce), and after giving our growers two years of farming experience, in 2011, we decided to open our market every week during the busiest produce season, from April through July and have now extended into a fall season as well.

Thank you for your support as we continue to grow and improve each year.  Our market is committed to growing our own farmers, instead of adopting farmers from other markets.  We do not allow reselling, so you can always rest assure that the person you buy your food from actually produced it!  Ask them about it, they love what they do!
