From BBQ Bliss to Fresh Finds: Rejuvenate Your Palate at the Tomball Farmers Market This Saturday!

9/4/2025

Comments

The last wafts of mesquite smoke have cleared, the charcoal grills are cooling down, and your fridge might still be overflowing with the delicious remnants of your Labor Day barbecue celebrations. We hope you had a fantastic long weekend filled with good food, great company, and perhaps a little well-deserved relaxation!
But now that you've had your fill of those smoky, savory delights, aren't you ready to give your taste buds something fresh, vibrant, and utterly delightful to look forward to? We certainly think so!

This Saturday, September 6, it’s time to swap your grill tongs for a reusable shopping tote and head on down to the Tomball Farmers Market! We’ll be bursting at the seams with the freshest, most beautiful produce imaginable, all lovingly grown by local farmers right here in our community.
Imagine:
  • Juicy, sun-ripened tomatoes begging to be sliced into a caprese salad.
  • Crisp, leafy greens perfect for a refreshing post-holiday salad.
  • Sweet corn, just waiting to be boiled or grilled (yes, we know, but it's different!).
  • A vibrant rainbow of seasonal fruits and vegetables that will inspire countless healthy and delicious meals.
It’s the perfect opportunity to hit the reset button after a holiday of indulgence, bringing home ingredients that are not only incredibly flavorful but also packed with nutrients.

Speaking of produce, we're thrilled to welcome a new vendor to the Tomball Farmers Market family: Pruitt Farms! You'll find a beautiful selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables at their booth, all grown using sustainable farming practices. This commitment to the land results in produce that is bursting with flavor and nutrient-rich. Be sure to stop by their booth this weekend to say hello and stock up on some of the finest produce around!

Still Craving That BBQ Fix? We've Got You Covered!

We get it – those Labor Day leftovers can be persistent! If your barbecue bounty is still calling your name but needs a little something extra, don't worry, the Market has your back. Explore our incredible selection of local vendors offering artisan sauces, unique spice blends, and gourmet condiments. A splash of a new, zesty BBQ sauce or a sprinkle of a smoky spice mix can transform those leftovers from "again?" to "amazing!" Trust us, your taste buds (and your leftovers) will thank you for that little "zhuzh."

More Than Just Veggies: A True Community Experience

The Tomball Farmers Market is so much more than just a place to buy produce. It's a vibrant hub of our community, a place where you can:
  • Meet the Makers: Chat directly with the farmers who grow your food and the artisans who craft unique goods.
  • Discover Local Treasures: Beyond fruits and veggies, you’ll find golden local honey, freshly baked artisan breads, farm-fresh eggs, handmade soaps, intricate crafts, and so much more.
  • Enjoy the Fresh Air: Take a leisurely stroll, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and soak up some sunshine. It’s a wonderful way to spend your Saturday morning, supporting local businesses and connecting with your neighbors.
So, this Saturday, put down that last piece of leftover cornbread, grab your reusable bags, and come join us for a morning of fresh air, fresh food, and community spirit. It's the perfect antidote to the holiday hustle and a fantastic way to kickstart a week of healthy, delicious eating.
We can't wait to see your smiling faces there!

The first week of school is officially behind us. The alarm clocks have been going off earlier, lunchboxes are back in action, the carpool lines have tested our patience, and homework has already started creeping back into our evenings.

It’s been a whirlwind — and you deserve a breather.

That’s where your Tomball Farmers Market comes in.

This Saturday, leave the hustle and bustle behind for a few hours and swap it for something better: the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread, the vibrant colors of just-harvested produce, and the smiling faces of neighbors and friends who can’t wait to say hello.

Imagine grabbing a warm coffee or fresh-squeezed juice, strolling leisurely through the market stalls filled with locally grown fruits and veggies, homemade jams and sauces, and handcrafted treasures. Kids can marvel at colorful baked treats or pick out their own basket of farm-fresh strawberries, while you chat with the very people who grew and created the foods you’ll take home.

Whether you’re:
  • Stocking up on crisp veggies for next week’s dinners
  • Grabbing a jar of local honey to sweeten your tea
  • Treating yourself to a gorgeous bouquet of flowers
  • Finding a unique gift handmade by a talented local artisan
…you’ll leave not just with full bags, but with a full heart.

So bring a friend, bring the kids, or simply bring yourself for some much-needed “me time.” Let the Tomball Farmers Market be your reset button after the back-to-school rush.

Action Alert: Urgent Calls Needed
to Stop Pesticide Liability Shield

The chemical giants that profit from toxic pesticides and herbicides want to escape accountability from the harm they cause - and they're using Congress to do it.

A provision has been quietly slipped into the Interior Appropriations bill that would give pesticide manufacturers immunity from lawsuits, even when their products devastate the farmer's crops, sicken farmworkers, or contaminate organic fields.
The bill is scheduled for its first vote July 15, 2025 in the U.S. House Subcommittee on Interior and Environment.
It will be hard to impact this vote on such short notice; but we need to generate as many calls as possible so that all the Representatives -- both those voting this morning and those voting on this bill as it progresses -- know that their constituents are aware of what is happening and outraged by it.

Call your U.S. Representative TODAY
Find Your U.S. Representative

Tell them:
"I strongly oppose Section 453 of the Interior Appropriations bill or any provision that shields pesticide companies from liability. Companies must be held responsible when their products harm farmers, workers and communities."

MORE INFORMATION

This action covers thousands of chemicals.
From household weedkillers to restricted-use agricultural pesticides, this legislation would apply across the board. It gives companies a free pass, even when they conceal risks or fail to warn about dangers — as long as their label was once approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA doesn’t independently test these products — it relies on the companies.
Federal law allows pesticide manufacturers to submit their own safety studies. The EPA does not conduct its own testing and relies heavily on industry submitted studies. And when companies manipulate or withhold critical data — as they’ve done in the past — this bill would still protect them!

It gives total immunity to international corporations who have no accountability to Americans.
ChemChina — a state-owned company the Pentagon identifies as a Chinese military entity — owns Syngenta, which sells paraquat and hundreds of other pesticides in the U.S.  Bayer - the German-owned company that bought Monsanto -- has had to pay hundreds of millions in damages to people harmed by the chemicals, but that accountability will end with this bill.  Why are American farmers and families being prevented from recovering for harms these companies cause?

It protects companies that destroy farmers’ crops — even when they lied to get EPA approval.
If this bill passes, nothing would stop a company from pushing a new product they know is likely to drift and damage nearby fields. They could downplay the risks to the EPA, get a label approved, and leave neighboring farmers with scorched crops, lost yields, and no legal recourse. Even when livelihoods are wiped out, immunity means farmers would be stuck with the costs — not the companies who caused the damage.

Liability shields may sound good -- "stop the evil tort lawyers" is an attractive slogan -- but they have a fundamental problem. Once a for-profit company knows it can't be sued, all the incentives weigh in favor of lying to regulators and doing the bare minimum to get government approval from agency officials who are beholden to the industry.  This already happens far too much, we can't let it get even worse!

Thank you to GMO/ Toxin Free USA for spotting this provision and spreading the word!
