Sept 23, 2023 News
We are so grateful for the little bit of rain we got this week. Our farmers have really struggled this season with the drought and the subsequent rising costs to keep their livestock and farms alive. Many of our farmers rely on wells on their properties to sustain their farms and ranches in these conditions. Proposition 1, The Right to Farm and Ranch in Texas is a bill every community in Texas needs to vote in favor of in November to protect our farmers ability to bring us the highest quality of food and protect their love of nurturing this Texas land we love!
This bill is OUR once in a generation opportunity to protect our local farmers and ranchers ability to provide our community and our future generations with healthy food options through their sustainable farming practices, protecting our water supply, local crops from invasive species pests and diseases and our other natural resources. If this bill fails it WILL severely cripple our Texas farms, ranches and local natural resources for generations to come.
But what does this mean for our community and why is this bill SO VITAL?
This bill underscores the critical and invaluable contribution our local farmers make to our state's economy, our food security and protecting our nutrient rich soil. By voting in favor of Prop 1, communities can ensure that farmers have the legal protections necessary to sustain their livelihoods and the importance of them being able to protect our local ecosystem through sustainable farming practices.
Voting in favor of this proposition is a powerful way for communities to stand by their farmers and ensure a bright future for agriculture in the Lone Star State. Please check out the pamphlets below and learn more how you can help protect our farming community.
